Laundry Aide HCC

Job summary

This role supports the laundry operations for a healthcare care center by washing, drying, sorting, folding, and distributing linens and residents’ personal clothing. The position helps ensure that patient and resident items are cleaned properly, handled carefully, and returned in good condition and at the right place.

What you will do

• Load washers with sheets, blankets, pillow covers, and residents’ personal items, then add the correct detergent or other cleaning agents.
• Move clean, wet laundry through wringers and dryers for the required cycle times.
• Separate dried items by identification number or item type and fold them for storage.
• Sort and fold laundry such as blankets, sheets, towels, and personal clothing.
• Hang clothing on racks using names and numbers for identification.
• Deliver residents’ laundry to the appropriate areas.
• Make sure clothing is wearable, intact, and placed where it belongs.
• Use soaps, bleaches, and other chemicals correctly, including following all MSDS safety instructions.
• Wash and dry clothing and linens, and handle soiled items appropriately.
• Keep laundry equipment clean and follow scheduled cleaning routines.
• Maintain a tidy work area by sweeping and mopping the laundry room.
• Report equipment or facility repair needs to maintenance.
• Operate large filters based on established schedules.
• Clean and disinfect linen carts as required by policy and procedure.
• Empty washers and dryers when needed or when requested.
• Operate water, gas, and electrical shutoff switches and valves.
• Carry out proper stain removal procedures.

Education and experience

A high school diploma is preferred. The employer provides on-the-job training. Prior experience with laundry processes in a healthcare setting is preferred.
