Landside Transport Coordinator

Role overview

This position is for a Landside Transport Coordinator based in Kampala, Uganda, within a commercially focused international setting that supports global trade every day. The role is centered on making landside logistics run efficiently by keeping empty container movement under control, coordinating truck availability and transport execution, and reducing unnecessary cost while maintaining dependable service and meeting customer commitments in line with global SOPs.

What you will do

• Maintain day-to-day visibility of empty container locations.
• Monitor empty containers from unloading through return to the assigned depots.
• Run and update operational dashboards covering empty aging, return progress, and export readiness.
• Identify trucks available for export loading and keep allocation boards current.
• Share daily progress updates with customer experience, planning, and operations teams.
• Work with landside vendors on movement plans, priorities, and any operational exceptions.
• Oversee daily dispatch and logistics execution to keep client service running smoothly and support on-time, in-full delivery.
• Ensure local supply chain practices remain aligned with global standard operating procedures.
• Review weekly and monthly customer schedules and demand forecasts to anticipate peak periods and delivery timing.
• Track the performance of distribution and transport providers to achieve strong on-time, in-full results while maintaining quality standards.
• Keep system records updated in a consistent and timely manner.
• Handle exceptions promptly and take corrective action while managing changes and contingencies proactively.
• Coordinate with customer-facing teams to respond quickly to planning changes, equipment failures, and other issues.
• Work closely with the vendor management team to ensure sufficient loading capacity is available to support loading plans.
