Role overview
This position sits within the food and beverage culinary function at a Marriott property in Doha, Qatar. The role supports kitchen operations, food quality, and team coordination in a full-time, non-management capacity.
Key responsibilities
You will help oversee cooks and kitchen staff, making sure food is prepared, plated, and garnished to the expected standard. The role includes checking production quantities, coordinating special meals or substitutions, and keeping the food service team updated on specials and items that are unavailable.
You will also support the kitchen team with day-to-day tasks, provide needed ingredients or equipment, monitor stock levels, and keep kitchen logs related to food safety and food items. Part of the job is to verify food quality and alert management whenever an item does not meet requirements.
Team leadership and coordination
This role contributes to people management by helping with hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, counseling, discipline, and employee motivation. You are expected to collaborate well with colleagues, support shared goals, and respond constructively to concerns from other team members.
Safety, conduct, and workplace standards
You must consistently follow company, safety, and security procedures, report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, and complete all required safety training and certifications. Professional grooming, confidentiality, respect for company property, and attentive guest service are also essential. The position may require extended standing, sitting, or walking, as well as bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 25 pounds without assistance. Other reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors.
Preferred background
The preferred educational background is a technical, trade, or vocational school qualification. The role calls for 4 to 6 years of related work experience and at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. No license or certification is required.
