Junior Financial Analyst

Overview

Murchinson is looking for a Junior Financial Analyst to support investment analysis and financial reporting work in Toronto, Ontario. This is a full-time position based on-site at the physical workplace, with no remote-work option.

Education

A bachelor’s degree is needed, preferably in Economics, Commerce, Finance, or a related finance-focused field.

Experience

Applicants should have between 1 and 2 years of relevant experience.

Work Setting

This position is within an investment company and requires work to be completed in person at the location.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess financial risk and support risk-related analysis.
• Work with portfolio management software as part of daily analysis tasks.
• Review and interpret financial and investment data, including company profiles, share and bond pricing, yields, and trend outlooks.
• Draft company, industry, and economic outlooks, along with analytical reports, briefing notes, and correspondence.
• Evaluate investment opportunities and projects.
• Prepare short- and long-range cash flow plans and measure financial performance.
• Carry out variance analysis.
• Handle administrative duties as needed.

Experience and Specialization

The role calls for working knowledge of Excel VBA, MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint, and email tools. Prior exposure to financial statements is expected, with experience focused on accounting and financial services.
