Role Overview
As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will help deliver infrastructure-as-code and configuration management solutions while working closely with experienced team members. The position is designed to build practical capability in automation, CI/CD, and modern cloud deployment methods across AWS and Azure. You will gain exposure to enterprise-grade tools and contribute to infrastructure automation work while developing your DevOps knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with infrastructure-as-code delivery using Terraform across AWS and Azure, with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Support configuration management activities using Ansible where required.
- Contribute to automation initiatives and strengthen your understanding of cloud infrastructure tooling and practices.
- Help build and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines under supervision.
- Work with Docker containers and develop foundational knowledge of Kubernetes concepts.
- Write simple Bash scripts to automate routine tasks.
- Prepare and update technical documentation for implemented solutions.
- Collaborate with senior team members to learn DevOps principles and infrastructure automation methods.
- Provide guided support for deployed applications and infrastructure.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone with a solid grasp of infrastructure-as-code ideas, configuration management fundamentals, and DevOps automation practices. You should also have a basic understanding of CI/CD, familiarity with Azure DevOps (including Pipelines and Repositories), and some exposure to Terraform on AWS and/or Azure. Knowledge of Ansible, basic Bash scripting, and a willingness to learn quickly are important. Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail are also needed.
Eligibility
This role is intended for Australian citizens who have continuously resided in Australia for the past 3 to 5 years. An active security clearance is preferred because of the secure nature of the work.
Bonus Exposure
Additional experience or interest in Docker, containerization fundamentals, Kubernetes or OpenShift, and HashiCorp Vault or secrets management will be viewed positively.
