Inventory Planner

Role overview

The Inventory Planner will oversee item inventory with speed and attention to detail, ensuring customer expectations are met or surpassed while keeping slower-moving and lower-margin stock categories at a healthy, lean level.

Core duties

• Track purchasing needs and maintain appropriate inventory balances.
• Review inventory demand and urgency to decide the most effective fulfillment approach.
• Help define replenishment settings and influence order quantities for stockable items.
• Plan advance purchases and timed deliveries using historical demand patterns and projected growth.
• Keep purchasing teams and leadership updated on changes involving sales and vendors.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
• Address and resolve concerns related to shipping, pricing, and quantities.
• Build and distribute POS and consignment reports.
• Act as a point of coordination between internal teams and outside customers to resolve issues.
• Assess customer forecast inputs, clarify them where needed, and take action accordingly.

Required capabilities

• Hands-on experience with ERP systems that include forecasting and demand planning functions.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Proven ability to improve performance within an assigned supplier base.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
