Role overview
Executive Aviation is looking for Ground Handlers to join the Below the Wing team at Kelowna International Airport (YLW). This position supports airline ground operations and reports to a Shift Lead who will provide day-to-day guidance.
What the role involves
- Following airline procedures and Transport Canada rules and regulations.
- Operating ground support equipment safely and effectively.
- Guiding aircraft to the gate by marshalling and wing-walking.
- Sorting, loading, and unloading guest baggage according to the load plan.
- Moving baggage to the claim area and unloading it onto the conveyor system.
- Providing water and lavatory service to aircraft.
- Checking ramp areas for debris and removing any items found.
- Cleaning aircraft cabins, galleys, and lavatories, and replenishing lavatory supplies.
- Handling other duties as assigned.
Working conditions
This is a shift-based role that may include early mornings, daytime shifts, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. The job requires prolonged standing and physical activity such as lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Requirements
Applicants need to be reliable, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced aviation environment. A strong team attitude and the ability to perform well under tight timelines are important. You must be able to consistently lift up to 70 lbs / 32 kgs and wear the required safety gear, including steel-toe boots with green patch, a reflective vest, and hearing protection. Employment conditions include obtaining a Restricted Area Pass from Transport Canada, passing a criminal background check, and holding a valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
Compensation and benefits
The hourly pay range for this position is $19.05 to $22.95.
