Role overview

Balfour Beatty Highways is hiring a Gateman for the Mottram Moor Link Road and A57 Link Road highways improvement project in Manchester. In this position, you will help control access to the construction site and support the day-to-day running of the yard, stores, waste area, and site entrance.

The wider Highways division manages and maintains major road networks across the UK and works with local authorities to support communities where people live, work, and spend time.

Key duties

• Record all site arrivals and departures, including construction deliveries.
• Direct deliveries to the relevant supervisors or teams.
• Keep the site secured and locked throughout the shift.
• Represent the company professionally and help visitors when needed.
• Control and guide traffic and vehicles around the site.
• Carry out general housekeeping, keep the area tidy, and maintain signage.
• Support site work when required.
• Ensure workers and visitors sign in and out through M Site.
• Coordinate with site personnel to prepare for the day’s delivery and dispatch plan.
• Open and close the gate at the beginning and end of the day.
• Check that all deliveries meet site rules and refuse vehicles that do not comply.
• Manage the yard, stores, and waste area, arrange skip changes, inspect safety signage, and order PPE.

• A valid driving licence and a CSCS card.
