Role overview
This opportunity is for a Financial Planner based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, working 37.5 hours per week within TD Wealth Management. The position offers a base salary in the range of CAD 60,000 to CAD 70,000 and may also include commission-based earnings.
What you will do
You will work with mass affluent clients to help them shape and pursue their financial goals through comprehensive planning and advice. The role is centered on client relationships, sound recommendations, service quality, and business growth.
- Build trusted relationships with clients by learning about their personal and financial goals, carrying out detailed financial reviews, and providing ongoing advice and support.
- Use data and analysis to interpret outcomes, form recommendations, and assess how well financial programs, policies, and practices are performing.
- Work closely with your team to meet shared goals while improving the overall client experience and maintaining a high standard of service.
- Track productivity and service delivery, look for ways to improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Keep up with industry best practices, market developments, and new trends in financial planning.
- Share knowledge with colleagues by coaching and mentoring them in a collaborative environment.
- Follow a strong risk and control framework that matches the organization’s risk appetite.
- Contribute positively as a team member in a service-focused workplace.
Candidate profile
The preferred candidate has a bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of experience in banking services, ideally with a background in managing client relationships and giving customized investment advice. If not already licensed, you should be prepared to obtain Registered Representative (RR) licensing through the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). You should also be committed to earning the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation within the first three years in the role.
CFP eligibility
To meet CFP eligibility requirements, a university degree is required, or one of the following alternatives:
- Up to 10 years of qualifying work experience
- Or five years of good-standing experience as a QAFP professional at the time of application
