Role Overview

The Facilities Manager will lead the hard and soft services strategy and delivery for Abbott’s manufacturing site in Kilkenny. The position involves long-term facility planning as well as daily operational oversight, along with the design, planning, construction, and upkeep of equipment, machinery, and buildings. The role also includes planning and controlling budgets for facility-related projects. You will coordinate and execute facility and utility initiatives in a continuous-improvement setting while helping ensure the site consistently delivers safe, effective products in a compliant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans for future facility needs, budgets, projects, and routine site operations.
  • Procure and manage facilities-related equipment and services while tracking cost, timing, and performance.
  • Protect the ongoing reliability of plant facilities through maintenance, repairs, and site improvements both inside and outside the buildings.
  • Spot opportunities to introduce new technologies and strengthen continuous improvement.
  • Keep accurate systems, methods, procedures, and reports for all facilities activities.
  • Support failure, quality, and customer complaint investigations and track the delivery of assigned CAPAs for the process area.
  • Help create SOPs, protocols, specifications, and validation documents.
  • Drive ongoing improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance across the plant.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop the Facilities team.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
  • A degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Solid facilities management experience, ideally within a regulated setting.
  • Experience managing people and teams.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and facilities management software or tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification is preferred, with Green Belt or Black Belt considered an advantage.
  • Experience creating and establishing programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Good communication and influencing skills.
