About the role

This opportunity is for a customer-oriented cook/team member who enjoys preparing food and delivering a memorable guest experience in a lively fast-casual setting. The position supports the GYG concept, which aims to lead fast-casual Mexican dining through consistently strong food and service.

What you'll do

Working under the Restaurant Manager, you will help provide friendly and efficient service while preparing menu items in line with GYG’s documented procedures. A strong working knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and preparation steps is important so that food can be delivered quickly and to a high standard.

What it takes to succeed

• Strong English communication skills are expected for non-native speakers.
• An RSA certificate is required.
• You should be comfortable juggling multiple tasks in a very fast-moving environment.
• Basic computer literacy is needed, along with the ability to learn POS and EFTPOS systems.
• You should understand Australian currency, common payment methods, and loyalty card usage.
• A friendly, open, and approachable manner is important.
• Patience and a genuine desire to assist customers are essential.
• You must be able to keep your workstation clean, organised, and presentable.
• A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm are valued.
• Good teamwork and communication skills are required.
• The role suits someone self-driven and energetic, with an “always moving” mindset.

Experience note

Prior work in customer service or food preparation is considered an advantage, but it is not mandatory. Attitude and readiness to learn matter most.
