Role overview

ImagineArt is a rapidly expanding generative AI company with strong traction across revenue and social reach, and it is looking for a Cinematographer & Editor to help translate the story behind the product into compelling short-form video. The role is based on-site in San Francisco, California, and involves working closely with the founders to document authentic moments, launches, milestones, and everyday company life.

This position goes beyond basic filming. The ideal person will bring a strong visual point of view, with a solid grasp of lighting, composition, camera movement, and editing rhythm. You will be responsible for shaping content that is visually polished, engaging, and built to perform across social platforms.

You will own the entire content workflow end to end: developing the idea, directing the shoot, capturing footage, editing the final piece, and getting it out the door without multiple layers of review.

Key responsibilities

• Produce short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and X.
• Plan and film behind-the-scenes content featuring the founders, product launches, events, meetings, and day-to-day moments.
• Apply thoughtful creative direction on every shoot, including lighting, framing, camera motion, and overall visual tone.
• Support founders in developing a genuine and engaging on-camera personal brand.
• Run the company’s in-house podcast setup, including camera, audio, and lighting configuration.
• Build repeatable content series that highlight ImagineArt’s people, culture, and products.
• Handle the full post-production process, including pacing, sound design, color correction, and narrative structure.
• Test new content ideas and refine them quickly based on performance and audience response.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working as a cinematographer, videographer, or video editor.
• Strong technical knowledge of camera work, including lighting, lenses, framing, and movement.
• Comfortable working with both photography and videography.
• A creative, story-first mindset with the ability to generate ideas rather than simply execute instructions.
• Working knowledge of editing tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable software.
• Good understanding of Reels, TikTok, Shorts, and how content behaves on each platform.
• Ability to independently take a project from concept through to final publication.

Preferred background

• Experience growing a personal audience or creator brand.
• Background in founder-led or startup-focused storytelling.
• Familiarity with AI products and the broader GenAI landscape.
• A reel or portfolio that demonstrates versatility in style and storytelling.
• Track record of producing content that has performed strongly or gone viral.
