Care Assistant

Role overview

Caremark in Swansea is seeking caring and dependable Care Assistants to join a newly established domiciliary care team. This role is focused on supporting people in the comfort of their own homes while maintaining dignity, independence and high standards of personal support. Applicants do not need previous care experience, as full classroom-based and online training is available through the company training academy.

The position offers a wage of up to £13.60 per hour and can be worked on a full-time or part-time basis. Typical shift patterns currently include 7:00am to 2:30pm and 3:30pm to 10:00pm.

What the role involves

You will work alongside other care staff to provide personal care and everyday support tailored to each customer’s needs. The work includes help with personal care, medication, light household tasks and shopping, always delivered in a respectful and person-centred way.

Key duties

• Support clients with getting up in the morning and settling in at night, including help with dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and toileting.
• Assist with mobility needs and physical disabilities, including support with incontinence and the use of aids or equipment.
• Provide care for people who are temporarily unwell and need bed-based care and help with feeding.
• Offer practical and emotional support to clients receiving end-of-life care.
• Encourage mental and physical wellbeing through conversation, outings, reading, writing, hobbies and leisure activities.
• Carry out light domestic tasks such as making beds, changing linen, cleaning, emptying commodes and keeping the home tidy.
• Prepare simple meals, set tables and trays, serve food, and handle clearing up and washing up.
• Complete written reports and take part in client reviews and training activities.
• Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
• Report any meaningful changes in a client’s health or situation to the Field Care Supervisor or Care Manager.
• Promote client independence wherever possible.
