Role overview
Moriarty Group is hiring an experienced baker for its Super Valu store in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin. The business is an Irish-owned operator across grocery retail and hospitality, with three large Super Valu supermarkets in Balbriggan, Skerries, and Palmerstown, plus two 4-star hotels in Balbriggan and Leixlip. The wider group employs around 550 people.
This opportunity is with one of the group’s largest Super Valu locations in Dublin. The role suits someone with a strong interest in fresh food and the energy to work in a busy, fast-moving bakery environment.
Work schedule
This is a full-time role averaging 40 to 42.5 hours per week. The roster follows 5 shifts across 7 days and includes weekends and public holidays. Early starts and late finishes may be required.
What you will do
You will support the in-store bakery team in producing breads, cakes, and pastries for the fresh food range. The position includes both production and day-to-day support across the department.
Main duties
- Support the Head Baker with the daily operation of the in-store bakery.
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads.
- Produce novelty cakes and smaller cake items.
- Carry out HACCP-related tasks and maintain food safety standards.
- Assist with food preparation.
- Contribute to menu and product development.
- Help manage waste efficiently.
- Deliver consistently strong customer service.
Requirements
The employer is looking for a baker with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in a high-volume bakery setting. Candidates without this background will not be considered.
You should be confident working with different bread types and able to produce both small cakes and novelty cakes. HACCP training is required, and you must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The role also calls for enthusiasm, good communication, the ability to multi-task, and a willingness to assist wherever needed in the bakery. You should be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
