Assistant Manager Human Resources

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Assistant HR Manager to take charge of a broad range of human resources functions for a well-established business in the shipping and maritime sector. The successful candidate will bring solid expertise in HR operations, talent management, employee journey management, and strategic HR support, along with prior exposure to shipping, maritime, or logistics environments.

This position calls for a practical HR professional who can work closely with business leaders and ensure that HR procedures, policies, and compliance requirements are consistently followed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle, covering onboarding, performance management, promotions, transfers, and exit processes, while staying aligned with UAE Labour Law and internal HR policies.
• Contribute to workforce planning, organizational development, and succession planning initiatives, including identifying high-potential employees and supporting annual performance review cycles.
• Collaborate with department leaders on talent development, career growth, and leadership programs, while driving employee engagement initiatives that support a healthy workplace culture.
• Administer compensation and benefits processes, support salary review exercises and HR budgeting, and manage employee concerns, disciplinary cases, and conflict resolution with professionalism and discretion.
• Assist with recruitment coordination, keep HR policies and records up to date, prepare HR reports and analytics, and support HR system rollout and process enhancement efforts.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
• 5 to 8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in an HR Generalist or Assistant HR Manager role.
• Previous experience in the Shipping, Maritime, Shipping Line, Port Operations, Freight Forwarding, or Logistics industry is required.
• Strong command of full-cycle HR operations.
• Good working knowledge of UAE Labour Law and current HR best practices.
• Hands-on experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal ability, and stakeholder management skills.
• Capable of working independently and handling multiple priorities in a busy, fast-paced setting.
