Position Overview
The Area Visual Merchandiser is accountable for shaping and driving visual merchandising across a large territory, region, or country of stores. This position ensures that every store’s presentation reflects the brand identity, supports a stronger customer experience, and contributes to commercial performance. The role also includes coaching Senior Visual Merchandisers and Visual Merchandisers, maintaining execution standards, tracking market developments, and working with cross-functional partners to deliver effective in-store visuals.
Brand Presentation and Store Execution
- Lead and support Senior Visual Merchandisers and Visual Merchandisers across several stores so that displays, layouts, and presentation standards remain aligned with the brand image and business goals.
- Plan and supervise window displays, in-store layouts, and promotional installations while keeping visual standards consistent across all locations.
- Run regular team meetings to communicate priorities, share market observations, give creative guidance, and resolve issues.
- Review store displays, layout quality, and product placement on an ongoing basis to maintain a uniform visual standard.
- Refine floor plans and product zoning using sales patterns, shopper behavior, and market insights to improve engagement and sales.
- Track the impact of visual initiatives with store teams and make display changes when needed to capture stronger commercial results.
Cross-functional Coordination and Strategic Support
- Work closely with operations, buying, and brand management teams so visual plans are aligned with stock availability, promotions, and sales objectives.
- Support marketing campaigns, seasonal introductions, and brand communication by ensuring in-store visuals reinforce the intended message.
- Contribute strategic input through continuing market research, competitor review, and customer lifestyle analysis.
- Support pre-opening preparations for new stores and ensure launch visuals meet brand standards and are ready for trade.
Research and Innovation
- Study market movements and retail trends to identify new opportunities for visual merchandising that fit the brand direction and business priorities.
- Compare store presentation approaches with competitors and industry practices to encourage fresh ideas and innovation.
- Recommend changes to visual strategy based on shopper insights, buying behavior, and changes in the market.
Budgeting and Reporting
- Oversee the visual merchandising budget for the assigned area and ensure resources are used efficiently without compromising quality.
- Prepare regular updates on the effectiveness of visual merchandising activities and highlight opportunities for improvement.
Training and Team Development
- Coach and develop Senior Visual Merchandisers and Visual Merchandisers through continuous training, feedback, and guidance on display methods, brand standards, and trend awareness.
- Create and reinforce best practices for execution so junior team members work to a high standard and knowledge is shared effectively across stores.
Additional Responsibilities
- Visit stores frequently to evaluate visual merchandising performance, offer direction, and make sure brand standards are consistently maintained.
- Collect and assess feedback from store teams, customers, and sales results to keep improving visual merchandising plans.
Experience
The preferred profile brings 7 to 10 years of visual merchandising experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing large areas or regions. Experience in handling multiple stores, mentoring visual merchandising teams, and linking visual standards to business goals is important. The role also calls for a strong background in market research and the ability to create innovative visual solutions based on trends and customer insight.
