Role overview
This is a practical, hands-on Workshop Assistant position based in Tauranga. It suits someone who is inquisitive, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in an industrial workshop environment.

What the role involves
- Providing responsive, customer-oriented support across the different business units.
- Keeping workshop consumables stocked by monitoring usage and placing orders when needed.
- Receiving incoming goods and putting stock away in the correct locations.
- Preparing and painting gearboxes.
- Maintaining accurate stock records and assisting with stock takes.
- Checking the quality of jobs coming in and going out of the workshop.
- Packaging items and dispatching goods.
- Looking after workshop tools and keeping them in good working order.
- Using a fork hoist to load and unload trucks.
- Helping maintain a safe workplace in line with current OSH requirements and company procedures.
Skills and experience
The ideal applicant will be physically capable of lifting items ranging from small parts to heavier objects, with a minimum lift requirement of 20 kg. A valid New Zealand driver’s licence is required. A fork hoist licence is preferred, though training can be provided if necessary. You should also have a solid understanding of health and safety expectations in an industrial setting, be able to work on your own initiative, and be comfortable finding practical ways to handle products efficiently. A strong team-oriented attitude is also important.
