Role Overview
This temporary full-time consulting assignment is intended to fill in during a leave of absence. The position reports to the Executive Director and is mainly based in the Complex in Allston. It follows a hybrid arrangement, requiring at least three days each week on-site, along with attendance at all events.
Core Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Executive Director to carry out a plan that strengthens the physical science and engineering entrepreneurship network.
- Design and deliver programs that serve the wider entrepreneurial community, including workshops, office hours, networking gatherings, dinners, fireside chats, translational research symposia, and similar activities.
- Collaborate with students, faculty, and senior university leadership to uncover unmet needs and new opportunities.
- Create and roll out initiatives that advance the broader entrepreneurship ecosystem.
- Help advance efforts to increase participation from a more diverse range of people in the regional innovation community.
- Define key performance indicators and monitor them to evaluate program impact.
- Build relationships with outside groups and help develop partnership opportunities related to translation and entrepreneurship, including startup accelerators and incubators, academic collaborators, and venture capital firms.
- Support planning and execution of events for both internal and external audiences.
- Maintain communications and coordination tools, including a newsletter system, website, social channels, and database workflows.
- Use project management software to organize and track event-related tasks.
- Handle event operations such as reserving rooms, arranging catering, preparing spaces, welcoming attendees, answering questions, and resolving in-person issues as they come up.
- Join biweekly intern check-ins, capture notes, and share follow-up action items.
- Be available for occasional evening and weekend events, with an on-site presence needed to address logistical issues during activities.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- At least five years of administrative experience is needed.
- Prior exposure to event coordination and logistics is essential.
- The ability to juggle several projects at once in a fast-moving setting is important.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail are expected.
- A flexible, startup-oriented mindset is preferred so tasks can be adjusted as needed.
- Experience working with varied populations is an advantage.
- Background knowledge or experience in relevant industries is a plus.
- The ideal candidate is creative, self-directed, entrepreneurial, and committed to the mission of the program.
- Success in both independent work and teamwork is necessary, along with the ability to use distributed resources effectively.
- Strategic and conceptual thinking, along with an innovative approach, is important.
- Comfort working with internal and external stakeholders in a university setting is required.

Additional Information
This is a consultant role covering a temporary absence.
