Role Summary

The Telecommunications Engineer will support engineering activities for telecom-related systems and equipment, ensuring technical accuracy, coordinated execution, and timely delivery across project phases. This position involves design development, vendor coordination, document control, site support, and cross-functional collaboration with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations, specifications, and design work, and select the required equipment and systems within the assigned scope.
• Prepare material take-offs and draft requisitions for inquiries and procurement of materials and supplies under responsibility.
• Review and complete technical evaluations of supplied items.
• Examine, approve, and track vendor-submitted information, whether related to the telecom discipline or received from other departments.
• Make sure assigned deliverables meet technical criteria, quality expectations, procedural rules, and project deadlines.
• Coordinate scope, inputs, and requirements with other disciplines such as Piping, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Vessels, Construction, Process, and Procurement.
• Monitor requests and design activities to ensure agreed schedules for information and equipment delivery are achieved.
• Support LLAA identification and proposal development.
• Keep project electronic records and documents updated in Documentum in line with project procedures.
• Manage VDDR activities and requisitions in SPMAT.
• Carry out site surveys to gather the information needed to continue design work.
• Assist the construction team in resolving issues that arise at site during execution.
• Hold discussions with building subcontractors to define engineering scope and oversee the work performed.
• Carry out any additional duties reasonably associated with the position.

Requirements

• A degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Solid understanding of telecom systems and related technologies.
• Minimum 8 years of experience working as a Telecommunications Engineer in the Oil & Gas sector.

Work arrangement: Full-time, on-site role in Ras Laffan, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Qatar.
