Role overview
A UK-based business in the chemicals distribution and premium spirits production space is hiring a Supply Chain Assistant to support the Supply Chain Manager in a busy manufacturing setting. The role involves working across sales, production, finance, and technical functions to keep goods, materials, and services moving smoothly through the operation.
This position is hands-on and varied, with a focus on purchasing, stock control, supplier coordination, and accurate inventory management. The successful candidate will help ensure the right materials are available to support production schedules and customer demand.

What you'll do
- Create, issue, and monitor purchase orders for both goods and services.
- Work with suppliers to secure on-time delivery of materials.
- Support sourcing activity by gathering and evaluating quotations.
- Keep pricing and cost details current and accurate.
- Help review supplier performance across quality, service, and cost.
- Update supplier files and assist with bringing new suppliers into the system.
- Communicate with suppliers to resolve issues and protect supply continuity.
- Maintain reliable stock data in the TROPOS system.
- Handle goods received and dispatched entries, along with stock corrections.
- Assist with stock counts, reconciliations, and inventory accuracy checks.
- Support stock planning, replenishment, and storage/rotation requirements.
- Match delivery paperwork and invoices to confirm stock and financial accuracy.
- Keep records consistent and data quality high across systems.
- Provide admin and reporting support to the Supply Chain Manager.
- Track ethanol movements and assist with related reporting obligations.
- Follow company procedures and compliance requirements at all times.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate is highly organised, comfortable managing several priorities, and able to work well with different teams. Strong communication, numeracy, and attention to detail are important, along with a practical, proactive approach to problem-solving. You should be able to follow established processes carefully and keep records accurate.
Experience using ERP software, especially TROPOS, would be an advantage. Familiarity with manufacturing or production environments is also desirable.

Compensation
The salary for this role is £30,000 per year.
