Position Overview
This leadership role is centered on improving procurement from end to end and serving as a catalyst for change across the function. The scope covers intake, source-to-contract, purchase-to-pay, and supplier relationship management, with a strong emphasis on raising the value and effectiveness of procurement.
The position is responsible for shaping and executing initiatives that modernize procurement operations. It also carries ownership of the procurement systems roadmap, coordination of system administration, identifying automation opportunities, managing integrations, and promoting adoption across users.

- Protecting data quality, integrity, and reliability.
- Creating and maintaining templates for RFx, supplier relationship management, project management, and value tracking.
- Preparing procurement reporting across spend, contracts, KPIs, and performance.
Key Performance Areas
The work is focused on helping procurement scale effectively, improving workflow governance, and driving enterprise-wide process optimization.
Capability improvement strategy includes developing and documenting approaches that strengthen procurement capabilities, processes, systems, and policies so the function can deliver effectively and operate with stronger governance.
Integration strategy and execution involve identifying and delivering opportunities that improve digital and process capability while increasing operational efficiency.
Leadership responsibilities include dotted-line and/or direct leadership, people enablement, and influencing cross-functional operating models.
Business management and coordination require driving cross-functional initiatives and building strong partnerships with key governance and process stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design frameworks, processes, and metrics that improve efficiency, governance, performance, resilience, and visibility.
- Gather and combine improvement ideas from both internal and external sources.
- Coordinate a procurement excellence council that advises on capability gaps, priorities, and opportunities.
- Evaluate and shape digital transformation initiatives that support scale, visibility, value assurance, and governance.
- Work with procurement leadership to lead transformation programs and keep projects moving smoothly.
- Maintain a central repository of active projects with current plans and documentation.
- Create project plans and communication plans for digital and process transformation work.
- Drive change adoption by engaging procurement teams and stakeholders around upcoming initiatives.
- Serve as the primary voice for procurement systems and policy, helping communicate related protocols and updates.
- Oversee the rollout of learning and development initiatives to build procurement capability over time.
- Provide coaching and mentoring support where needed.
- Partner with senior business stakeholders and category teams to understand needs, surface opportunities, share feedback, and align people around common goals.
- Collaborate with governance functions such as legal and IT security to improve contract management workflows, templates, and related processes.
- Work with digital leaders to align digital and data strategies across the business.
- Ensure procurement can provide timely and accurate information on spend visibility, contract reporting and notifications, preferred supplier lists, and cycle times/KPIs.
- Act as the main contact for audits or questions related to process changes and performance measurement.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, or a related field is required. An advanced business or finance degree is preferred. Professional registrations or certifications are desirable, and exposure to executive development or specialized supply chain programs such as Six Sigma is preferred.
Experience
The role calls for at least 10 years of business management experience and 5 or more years in senior management within procurement operations or a supply chain environment. Experience implementing, using, or optimizing modern procurement standards and leading procurement technologies is important. Hands-on exposure to intake/orchestration, source-to-pay, contract lifecycle management, supplier management, analytics, and ERP procurement tools is strongly preferred. Experience from direct and indirect procurement environments, especially within technology or services organizations, is considered an advantage.
