Walgreens is hiring a Shift Lead in Shreveport, LA for a full-time, on-site role. In this position, you will help keep the store running smoothly when management is not present, support customer service, and take responsibility for key operational tasks, cash handling, and team coordination.

Key duties

  • Unlock and secure the store when store leadership is unavailable, including startup checks, cash-related setup, and making sure the sales floor and stockroom are ready for the day. You will also open the back door for deliveries.

  • Help create, update, and reset displays for promotions, seasons, super structures, and sale merchandise.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts across departments, stockroom, and overstock locations.
  • Support the outdate program with the team to reduce expired merchandise.
  • Carry out price changes, maintain correct signage, and complete compliance-related pricing tasks within required timelines.
  • Assist with bookkeeping duties such as cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments when needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized store by addressing exterior and interior upkeep and requesting repairs when management is not available.
  • Support proper food storage, rotation, and stock replenishment according to policy, including first-in, first-out practices.
  • Use working knowledge of store systems and equipment to support daily operations.
  • Assist at the pharmacy out window when requested.
  • Ensure regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco are handled in line with state and local rules.
  • Perform bag checks for team members before they leave the store.
  • Follow company policies, maintain respectful working relationships, and complete special assignments or other tasks as needed.
  • Act as a communication link between management and team members by passing along assigned tasks when leaders are absent.
  • Escalate disciplinary matters and customer complaints to management.

Training and development

  • Attend required training sessions and complete assigned PPLs.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently, except where not required by law.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
  • Applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered in line with applicable law.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license if required by the state.
