Role Summary
This full-time position is based in Athy and involves hands-on installation and commissioning of advanced security systems. The Senior Electronic Security System Installer will work with technologies such as Hikvision CCTV, access control, HKC intruder alarms, and associated infrastructure for commercial and public-sector projects. The role includes reading technical drawings, planning cable routes, installing and connecting devices, setting up software and hardware, and verifying that systems operate correctly.
Core Duties
- Install, commission, and maintain a range of electronic security solutions on client sites.
- Work with CCTV, access control, intruder alarm, intercom, and related systems.
- Review technical drawings and schematics to plan installation work accurately.
- Design and execute cable routes, device mounting, wiring, and terminations.
- Configure software and hardware components for networked security equipment.
- Test system functionality and carry out fault-finding when issues arise.
- Complete preventative maintenance and ensure systems remain compliant and reliable.
- Follow site security rules and all applicable health and safety procedures.
- Provide support and direction to junior installers as needed.
- Maintain clear records, reports, and documentation for completed work.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and site representatives.
Experience and Technical Profile
The ideal candidate will bring 5 to 10 years of experience installing and commissioning electronic security systems in commercial or public-sector settings. A strong background in low-voltage electrical work, cable management, wiring terminations, and reading technical drawings is essential. Experience with IP-based systems, basic networking, and software-driven security interfaces is also important. Previous responsibility for leading site activity, mentoring colleagues, and coordinating tasks will be highly valuable.
Additional Requirements
Candidates should have a solid understanding of relevant industry standards, regulatory expectations, and on-site health and safety practices. Strong problem-solving ability, careful attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team are required. Good spoken and written communication skills are needed for client interaction and documentation. A full, clean Irish driving licence is required, along with the flexibility to travel to customer sites. Being based in Ireland near Athy, County Kildare is also required. A trade qualification, technical diploma, or equivalent practical experience in electronic security or electrical disciplines is considered an advantage.
