About the role

The Sanitation Associate is responsible for keeping food service environments clean and sanitary across production, ware washing, cafeteria, and dining spaces. The role may also involve receiving and putting away supplies when needed, along with delivering polite and helpful customer service while on duty.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

One year of experience is preferred.

Skills and knowledge

The role calls for at least 6 months of relevant experience. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting of 25 lbs. They should be able to read, understand, and carry out written and spoken instructions, measure chemicals accurately, and apply safety procedures and practices correctly.

Functional accountabilities

• Keep kitchen spaces, customer service zones, dining areas, and floors clean and orderly.
• Replenish the service area with trays and other requested items as needed, with limited supervision.
• Run and care for the dishwashing equipment and conveyor system; wash, sanitize, and store cooking tools, pots, pans, and patient service ware; report equipment problems to the supervisor right away.
• Use cleaning products properly and follow instructions to get the best results from each supply.
• Take out trash and clean waste containers.
• Sweep, mop, remove debris from floors, shelves, and walls, and power wash carts each day.

• Follow hospital, department, and regulatory sanitation standards at all times.
• Clean assigned work areas according to department expectations.
• Finish special cleaning tasks within the required timeframe.
• Store food and supplies safely and neatly while following food-handling procedures.
• Handle chemicals correctly and keep them stored in the proper manner.

• Record required quality and safety checks, including temperatures, pH readings, and dilution measurements.
• Escalate unresolved customer service concerns to management within 24 hours.
• Share all quality, availability, equipment, customer, and staffing issues with management.

• Present a professional appearance by following uniform standards.
• Work according to the established workflow for the role.
• Follow all department policies and procedures.
