Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will handle rotating equipment engineering support across the full project journey, making sure the work aligns with project scope, budget, schedule, quality expectations, and all relevant HSE and QA/QC standards.
Core Responsibilities
In this position, you will coordinate rotating equipment activities, manage interfaces between disciplines, and keep information flowing accurately among project stakeholders. You will also help strengthen project delivery by sharing lessons learned, supporting internal procedures, and contributing to KPI tracking and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities by Project Stage
Technical Support and Business Development
- Support internal teams and project stakeholders with technical input.
- Provide specialist advice for engineering studies and client-facing engagements when needed.
Feasibility Studies
- Offer engineering guidance and technical input during feasibility and concept development work.
Proposal and Tendering
- Assess client specifications and tender packages.
- Draft technical requisitions and inquiry documents for rotating equipment.
- Review vendor offers and complete technical bid evaluations.
- Prepare material take-offs to assist with cost estimating.
- Contribute to equipment pricing reviews and engineering man-hour estimates.
- Assist with proposal work related to rotating equipment packages.
Project Execution
- Interpret contractual technical requirements and project records.
- Coordinate engineering inputs with other disciplines and project participants.
- Develop specifications, technical requisitions, and equipment data sheets.
- Take part in vendor clarification sessions and technical negotiations.
- Review deliverables from vendors and subcontractors and track their progress.
- Carry out technical evaluations and prepare bid tabulations for rotating equipment packages.
- Follow equipment packages through detailed engineering and procurement.
- Examine vendor drawings and technical documents, aligning comments with other disciplines as needed.
- Participate in design reviews involving multiple disciplines and in project meetings.
- Contribute to utility requirements, electrical load lists, layouts, 3D models, and equipment routing studies.
- Support expediting, inspection, testing, and commissioning preparation activities.
- Assist with document control and final project documentation.
- Work closely with procurement, construction, and project management teams.
- Help prepare inspection plans, equipment weight and dimension data, and construction-related engineering documents.
Construction and Commissioning
- Provide engineering assistance during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
- Help resolve technical questions and site engineering issues related to rotating equipment.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity is suited to a mechanical engineering professional with hands-on rotating equipment experience in EPC, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or process-sector projects. Strong English communication skills and solid Microsoft Office capability are expected. Familiarity with engineering software and document management tools will be an advantage.
Qualifications and Experience
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent related engineering discipline, is required. The role calls for 5 to 10 years of relevant rotating equipment engineering experience.
