About the Organization
Shorefast is a Canadian registered charity that supports community-focused social enterprises, including the acclaimed Fogo Island Inn, Fogo Island Workshops, Fogo Island Fish, and programs such as Fogo Island Arts, a globally recognized contemporary artist residency. Through its work on Fogo Island, Newfoundland, and in other communities across Canada, Shorefast aims to help local places prosper within the global economy. Role Overview
The Reservations Specialist is a full-time, on-site position based on Fogo Island, Newfoundland. Working within the Reservations Team, this person will manage guest inquiries, confirm bookings, and support travel arrangements for visitors staying at Fogo Island Inn.
Key Duties
- Handle incoming calls to the Fogo Island Inn reservations line.
- Respond promptly to phone, email, and web-based enquiries.
- Enter bookings into the hotel property management system (iQWare).
- Process reservation payments.
- Maintain accurate guest records, travel plans, and other relevant details in the CRM system (Salesforce).
- Support guests with travel guidance and trip planning throughout the reservation process.
- Adapt to working schedules that may include days, evenings, and weekends.
- Partner with the Front Desk and broader Operations team to coordinate all aspects of a guest’s reservation and stay.
- Carry out research tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- A high school diploma is required.
- A post-secondary diploma or degree will be viewed as an advantage.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills are essential.
- Fluency in spoken and written French is considered an asset.
- Good computer literacy, including confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Highly organized with a positive outlook and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
- Committed to delivering an outstanding guest experience.
- Strong precision, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- Prior experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce is beneficial.
- Familiarity with PMS software such as iQWare is an advantage.
- Interest in social business and a genuine desire to contribute positively to people and community.
- Willingness to support the mission and objectives of Fogo Island Inn, Shorefast, and associated organizations.
- Respect for the history and culture of rural Newfoundland.
