Overview
Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar’s Department of Biological Sciences is looking for a driven Research Associate to contribute to ongoing work across multiple laboratory groups. The role supports experimental research, data interpretation, lab coordination, and scholarly writing.
Research Focus
This position spans work in the Younis Lab and the Naik Lab. In the Younis Lab, the work centers on the function of minor intron splicing in breast cancer, including laboratory technique development and analysis of RNA sequencing work. In the Naik Lab, the role involves research on PARP inhibition in colorectal cancer cell lines and approaches to improve treatment sensitivity.
Core Duties
The selected candidate will contribute to cell-based and molecular research, help establish and refine experimental workflows, support lab operations, and assist with collaborative projects. The role also includes supervision and mentoring responsibilities.
Required Background
A master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline is required. Prior hands-on experience in cell culture, cancer biology, and laboratory research is essential, along with strong communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.

This is a full-time, staff fixed-term position based in Doha, Qatar and paid on an hourly basis.
