Railcar Inspector/Prep

Position Overview

The Railcar Inspector/Prep role is focused on cleaning and checking railcars so they are ready for transport. The work combines hands-on preparation, basic inspection, and safe handling of equipment in a fast-moving environment.

Work Location and Schedule

This position is based in Vance, Alabama. The shift begins at 4:30 AM, and the schedule may require working up to 6 days per week.

Compensation

Pay starts at $17.00 per hour.

Key Duties

• Follow all safety rules, operating practices, and customer, company, and industry requirements.
• Check railcar end doors and help open and close them as needed.
• Look over railcars for signs of wear, damage, or fatigue.
• Spot repair needs that can be handled by Road & Rail Services.
• Use backpack blowers and scraping tools to clear away debris and contaminants that could lead to vehicle damage.
• Keep assigned tools and equipment accounted for and properly maintained.
• Carry out housekeeping and general cleanup tasks assigned by management.

• A high school diploma or GED, or the ability to obtain one.
• A strong safety-first mindset.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced setting.
• Reliability in meeting attendance expectations.
• A cooperative, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• A valid state driver’s license.
