Role overview
This position sits within the transport and infrastructure space and focuses on leading proposal and bid efforts that help the business secure profitable work. You will collaborate closely with technical specialists, project leaders, and wider business stakeholders to shape high-quality submissions throughout the work-winning lifecycle, from early capture activity through to conversion.
The role is centered on coordinating proposal development, bringing together input from multiple teams, and turning technical knowledge into persuasive, well-structured tender responses. You will also help define winning strategies, guide bid planning, manage reviews, and ensure final submissions are accurate, polished, and aligned with requirements.
Key duties
- Coordinate and support bid delivery across the full procurement process, including kick-off sessions, winning discussions, and review meetings.
- Follow established best practices and governance procedures, including qualification checks, review cycles, and close-out activities such as lessons learned.
- Work with technical writers and subject-matter experts to transform technical knowledge into strong, high-scoring proposal content.
- Help develop bid strategy, win themes, and storyboard structures that strengthen the submission.
- Manage coordination between the proposals function, other business streams, and external partners or subconsultants.
- Review RFP documents in detail, identify submission requirements, and prepare clarification questions for clients where needed.
- Write and refine tailored, technically differentiated bid responses.
- Reuse and adapt approved content where suitable, while also proofreading all materials carefully.
- Support project teams ahead of client interviews through presentation development and coaching.
- Gather market intelligence, competitor insights, and wider industry research to support pursuits.
- Track opportunities and manage them through the bid lifecycle.
- Create supporting proposal assets such as CVs and project sheets.
- Act as a central source of proposal best practice and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with marketing and communications activities when required.
- Ensure outward-facing materials reflect the organization’s message and brand consistently.
- Carry out final quality checks on printed proposal documents and verify compliance with all RFP requirements before submission.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in RFP responses and proposal development.
- A degree in English, Business, or a closely related field.
- Experience in architecture, engineering, and construction environments is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Well-developed organizational and time management abilities.
- Comfortable managing several assignments at once, including overlapping deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and delegate work effectively to achieve project goals.
