Role Purpose
The Project Management Engineer will report to the Project Manager and contribute to a variety of projects within the Project Management Department. The role supports planning, execution control, coordination, reporting, and cross-functional management activities across project phases.
Key Responsibilities
The position is responsible for helping the Project Manager keep project work aligned with client expectations, schedule targets, cost limits, and HSE/quality standards. It also involves coordination across internal and external stakeholders, document handling, subcontractor and vendor follow-up, spare parts and certification tracking, and support with claims and guarantee issues.
Bidding Phase Support
When required by the Project Manager, the engineer will review tender and contractual materials to understand the scope, timeline, and limitations of the work. The role also includes contributing to the Project Execution Plan, organization charts, and mobilization planning, along with assisting in estimating costs for external services.
Execution Phase Support
During project delivery, depending on project complexity and management needs, the engineer will manage reporting for assigned activities such as subcontracts, vendors, and interfaces. Additional duties include supporting manpower and resource planning, preparing and maintaining key procedures and project records, and assisting with change orders, claims, disputes, procurement activities, invoicing, and close-out documentation.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related management field and bring 7 to 10+ years of experience as a Project Management Engineer in oil and gas or EPC environments. Strong English proficiency is required.
Technical capability should cover project management basics such as WBS, execution planning, and resource planning; risk identification and mitigation; EPC contract awareness including variations, claims, and back charges; internal and external interface coordination; quality and HSE compliance; vendor and spare parts management; document control and reporting; cost and schedule control; and close-out activities such as mechanical completion, punch list handling, and handover preparation.
IT proficiency is expected in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel, along with planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project, ERP systems like SAP or an equivalent, document platforms such as SharePoint and Aconex, reporting tools such as Power BI, and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
Working Conditions
This is a permanent, project-based role located onsite in Doha, Qatar. The working pattern is 45 hours per week, arranged as 9 hours per day across 5 days.
