Role overview

Eni Trade & Biofuels is hiring an Operations Specialist for its Singapore office on a fixed-term contract of 12 months. This position sits within the Operations function and supports the Crude and Oil Products trading activity. You will work alongside traders, analysts, operators and several internal support teams to keep the deal lifecycle running smoothly from execution through post-deal follow-up.

The role calls for flexibility, including stepping in to support other operational tasks when required and handling urgent matters outside normal office hours. Day-to-day collaboration will span trading, shipping, scheduling, credit, middle office, back office, insurance, legal, finance and contracts.

Operating across Rome, London and Singapore, the team also works with Eni Trading & Shipping Inc. in Houston for the US market. Main duties

• Manage the daily operational flow for commodity contracts across the full deal cycle, ensuring execution is efficient and commercially sound for crude, light ends and/or product tankers and containers.
• Make sure contractual and charter party obligations are fulfilled in line with Eni’s shipping and operations standards.
• Coordinate loading and delivery schedules with internal teams and external counterparties, including accurate nomination of cargo and vessel date ranges to support trading objectives.
• Appoint inspection firms for cargo quantity and quality checks and verify that results are consistent.
• Handle post-deal work such as customs clearance, demurrage and claims, while ensuring operational information is shared promptly.
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time, following company procedures and the Risk Control Matrix.
• Enter operational information into the trading and operations systems promptly and correctly so records remain current and usable.
• Keep operational documentation and records in order, following internal control standards and SOX requirements.
• Work closely with colleagues in operations, trading, chartering, shipping, invoicing, claims, demurrage and legal to maintain effective cross-functional communication.
• Serve as a contact point for internal and external operational queries, and contribute to team discussions to raise and resolve issues.
• Support ad hoc operational requests generated by the Trading Team.
• Follow the Eni Code of Ethics and all relevant company policies at all times.

Required experience and capabilities

The ideal candidate should have strong academic results with a numeracy-focused background, along with substantial experience in an oil trading environment and multi-commodity operations. Experience in biofuels or oil products would be beneficial.

You should bring a solid understanding of commodity and vessel operations, including cargoes, time charters, voyage charters and ships. Practical knowledge is expected in areas such as cargo documentation, bills of lading, quality and quantity inspections, letters of credit, demurrage management, voyage orders, customs duties and clearance, storage, ship-to-ship transfers, blending, REACH requirements and cargo insurance.

Awareness of credit recovery processes, operational procedures and compliance requirements is also important. The role suits someone who thinks strategically, analyses problems well, works in a practical and results-oriented way, and looks for better ways to work. Strong organisation, attention to detail, clear communication, relationship-building ability and adaptability in a team setting are all essential. English must be fluent.
