Role overview

This position serves as the lead crew member responsible for the receipt, storage, inspection, movement, and upkeep of U.S. Air Force munitions and related site resources. The role also includes operating Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS) and MC2, guiding assigned Munitions Technicians, and making sure work follows the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and the Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strict compliance with USAF, host-nation, explosives safety, AFOSH, and security rules across both explosives and non-explosives activities at assigned locations and temporary duty sites.
• Escalate any munitions-related operational problems to Munitions Control and the Superintendent.
• Take charge during emergencies and carry out timely response actions.
• Complete munitions tasks using established quality procedures, spotting possible issues and suggesting practical fixes.
• Track several work streams at once and ensure tasks are completed according to priorities, objectives, and schedules.
• Step in and perform the duties of the Munitions Supervisor when needed.
• Restore, repair, and replace damaged or missing components in munitions and containers.
• Carry out munitions storage and maintenance work in line with strict explosives handling standards.
• Perform warehouse stock counts and resolve any inventory differences.
• Work with operations staff to address serviceability and accountability concerns found during warehouse activity.
• Prepare munitions shipments for movement by air, sea, and ground transportation.
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing munitions shipments from trucks.
• Support munitions inspections under 11A-1-10 and the relevant technical orders.
• When assigned, help inspect munitions brass, residue, and containers under 11A-1-60.
• Operate TICMS according to site processes where applicable.
• Inspect, operate, and perform user-level maintenance on forklifts, pallet jacks, manual hoists, and similar handling equipment.
• Use and inspect tools and equipment such as metal strapping machines, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors, and power tools.
• Inspect facilities and installed equipment and carry out minor maintenance as needed; clean vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
• Deliver general safety and explosives safety briefings.
• Assess crew members’ technical abilities against established standards and provide training where required.
• If qualified, load and unload munitions shipments, move them to and from flightline holding areas, and transport munitions in support of daily departmental operations.
• Act as the link between Crew Members and Munitions Supervisors.
• Serve as an entry controller when required.
• Work the hours needed, including standby duty, to meet mission needs during peacetime and contingency operations.
• Handle other assigned duties as needed.
• Work in office, maintenance shop, or warehouse settings, and be prepared for extended outdoor work.

Requirements

• Intermediate understanding of USAF Supply, TMO, Munitions, and Technical Order systems, or an equivalent system used by a U.S. service.
• Strong computer literacy, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to operate material-handling equipment.
• Valid driver’s license from the home country and the ability to obtain a host-nation license.
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• At least four years of military munitions experience.
• No domestic violence conviction, in line with Lautenberg Amendment requirements.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for this clearance.
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment according to task procedures.
• Physical ability to perform all duties and lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel within the country and internationally.
• Normal color vision and depth perception.
• Preferred: broad knowledge of munitions functional areas.
• Preferred: intermediate knowledge of MC2 and other information systems.
• Preferred: prior experience in USAF munitions storage, maintenance, control, and inspection procedures.
• Preferred: experience with TICMS, CAS, MC2, TMRS, IMDS for munitions, and MMHE.
• Preferred: at least two years of experience as a Munitions Crew Chief.
• Preferred: intermediate experience operating forklifts and tractor trailers.
• Preferred: CCAF degree in Munitions Management.
