The workplace is energetic, playful, and hands-on. The role suits someone who enjoys being around children and contributing to afternoons filled with learning, movement, creativity, and fun.
Role Overview
As a Multi-site Programme Assistant, you will be a welcoming presence for children across several programme locations. You will move between sites within your assigned area on different days, helping ensure that programmes are consistent, safe, and well run.
This position requires a minimum commitment of 5 to 10 hours each week, scheduled from Monday to Friday. Reliable transport is essential because you will need to travel between different programme locations in your area.
Afternoon after-school shifts run from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and you must be available from 2:30 pm. End times may vary. Additional hours may be available during school holiday programmes, typically between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Key Duties
- Support tamariki while they take part in fun and safe activities.
- Help maintain a clean, tidy, and inviting environment for children.
- Assist the Programme Manager in delivering smooth sessions across multiple sites.
- Travel between programme locations as scheduled.
- Develop positive connections with children, families, and colleagues at each site.
- Notice and escalate any issues related to behaviour, wellbeing, or safety.
Perks and Benefits
- 50% off selected sKids programmes, which may suit employees with children of their own.
- Referral bonus of up to $250 for each successful referral.
- Family-friendly schedule with no weekend shifts and free time during the middle of the day.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme for wellbeing support.
- Supportive and upbeat team culture that values collaboration and celebrates achievements.
Qualifications and Fit
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about working with children and brings positive energy, reliability, and a willingness to make each session enjoyable. Relevant experience can come from babysitting, coaching, volunteering, or similar work with kids.
Requirements and Other Information
You must have the right to work in New Zealand, either through valid visa status or citizenship. Reliable transport or access to a vehicle is required for travel to the Matua Ngaru sites.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by a member of the team. If selected, you will need to pass a satisfactory Police Record Check. sKids is committed to child protection and safeguarding, and all staff are expected to uphold these standards in their work with children and young people.
