Merchandiser/Cashier

Role Overview

O’Reilly Auto Parts is hiring a full-time, on-site Merchandiser/Cashier in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This position combines customer service, stocking, merchandising, and cashiering duties on the sales floor.

What You’ll Do

You will welcome shoppers, help them find items, direct them to a parts specialist when more technical hard parts assistance is needed, and support a clean, organized, and well-stocked front area. The role also includes checkout support, handling returns, deterring theft, and helping keep displays aligned with company presentation standards.

Merchandising Duties

• Help customers locate merchandise or refer them to a parts specialist when needed.
• Receive, price, and place stock on the floor.
• Keep front-end displays neat, full, and clean every day.
• Update displays in line with company instructions and planograms.
• Apply all front-end price updates accurately.
• Ensure promotional signage remains in place and the sales flyer rack stays stocked.
• Maintain enough promoted merchandise on display.
• Remove promotional materials once the sale ends and restore original pricing.
• Support stock corrections, cycle counts, and overstock returns.
• Work with the manager to complete the store to-do list and weekly team tasks.
• Serve as a visible deterrent to shoplifting and help protect the front floor area.
• Assist with Image Maker duties as assigned.
• Follow company clock-in and clock-out procedures.

Cashier Duties

• Ring up front-floor merchandise quickly and courteously.
• Process customer returns in a polite and efficient way.
• When the express lane is free and the counter is busy, help close tickets and accept cash, checks, and credit card payments.

Requirements and Preferences

Strong comfort with number patterns, solid people skills, and good organization are required. Prior experience in cashiering or stocking is preferred. Candidates who can drive a manual transmission vehicle are preferred, and multilingual applicants—especially Spanish speakers—are strongly encouraged.
