Role overview
Churches of Christ in Queensland is hiring a dependable Maintenance Officer for its Palms Aged Care Facility in Ingham, Queensland. This is a permanent full-time position with an immediate start available. The role is about more than general upkeep — it directly contributes to the safety, comfort, dignity, and day-to-day wellbeing of residents living in the service.
What you will do
- Handle general maintenance tasks and small repairs.
- Look after gardens and outdoor spaces, including mowing, pruning, and routine upkeep.
- Support scheduled preventative maintenance activities.
- Work with and help coordinate contractors while they are on site.
- Maintain maintenance records and use asset management systems.
- Help keep the environment safe, tidy, and well presented.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be practical, dependable, and able to approach issues with a solutions-first mindset. You should have experience in maintenance, handyman work, or a similar field, along with strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Being organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively is also important.
Essential requirements
- A National Police Check, or the ability to obtain one.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Basic computer literacy, including use of Outlook and the internet.
- A current driver licence.
- Valid Australian work rights, as sponsorship is not available.
Desirable experience
- At least 12 months of experience in maintenance or a comparable role.
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements, or the capacity to gain this knowledge.
- Previous experience in aged care or a similar setting.

Additional information
This position offers salary packaging of up to $18,549 per year tax-free, split across everyday expenses ($15,900) and meals/entertainment ($2,649), which may increase take-home pay. The employer also offers generous annual leave and a supportive work culture.
