Role overview

The Hardiman Hotel, a well-known four-star property in central Galway, is hiring a skilled and initiative-driven Maintenance Manager to become part of its leadership team. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on preserving the building’s historic character, keeping modern systems running smoothly, and ensuring all guest-facing and back-of-house areas meet strong operational and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct, coordinate, and encourage the maintenance team in their day-to-day work.
• Organize and supervise both planned maintenance and urgent repairs throughout the hotel.
• Make sure all equipment, plant, guest rooms, and shared spaces are kept in good working order and maintained efficiently.
• Arrange and monitor external contractors, along with their maintenance and servicing timelines.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety rules, fire safety requirements, and all applicable legal obligations.
• Partner with hotel leadership and departmental managers to keep operations running without disruption.
• Keep thorough maintenance documentation and support ongoing improvements to processes and standards.

Candidate profile

• Background in maintenance management or a comparable senior maintenance position.
• Solid technical expertise and a practical, solution-focused approach to repairs and troubleshooting.
• Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively.
• Capable of working on your own initiative while managing several tasks at once.
• Confident communication skills and a professional, people-oriented manner.
• Experience in hospitality will be a strong plus.
• Trade qualifications or relevant certifications are beneficial.
