Role overview

This role sits within bp’s Customers & Products business, supporting SA Fuels, which distributes about 1.6 billion litres of fuel in bulk to more than 500 outlets across the B2C market. The operation runs through roughly 10 depots and uses a fleet of around 65 non-dedicated, fully outsourced contracted bulk transport vehicles that cover approximately 6 million kilometres each year. The position focuses on ensuring accurate transactional control and reconciliation of fuel deliveries completed by road transport contractors.

What you will do

  • Work in line with bp’s safety leadership principles and consistently demonstrate the company’s values and purpose.
  • Check and reconcile completed deliveries in the PDI Logistics Cloud scheduling platform and SAP so that load closure is accurate and customers are invoiced correctly for the right product and quantity.
  • Record stock movements each day for transport operations based on monitoring activity from bulk vehicle operators using on-board vehicle computers.
  • Investigate delivery or transaction issues that lead to customer credit notes, including shortages, spillages, or contamination, and provide guidance to Finance.
  • Follow up with road transport contractors whenever clarifications are needed about completed trips.
  • Support reconciliation of movements in PLC during contingency situations where paper bills of lading and paper delivery notes are used instead of the normal electronic process.
  • Work with transport supervisors and trainers to coach bulk vehicle operators on effective use of on-board vehicle computers and highlight inefficiencies or non-use of the devices.
  • Monitor movement KPIs, transport gains and losses, and kilometres against tolerance limits; investigate and correct out-of-tolerance movements while maintaining records to support the 0.05 gain-and-loss compliance policy.
  • Ensure document handling and storage practices are followed wherever required.
  • Respond quickly to transport stock queries and resolve them in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • A diploma in transport, logistics management, or a related field; alternatively, substantial relevant experience in fuel transport fulfilment and reconciliation may be considered.
  • Some prior experience in transport fulfilment, transport reconciliation, or stock management is preferred.
  • Strong numerical ability and comfort working with figures.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate clearly.
  • Experience with SAP and transport scheduling or transport management systems will be an advantage.

Skills and competencies

  • Customer-focused approach
  • Data analysis and numerical reasoning
  • Fuel transport execution knowledge
  • Stock control and reconciliation
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Clear communication
  • SAP and transport systems awareness
  • Problem solving and investigation
  • Document control
