Junior Retail Planner

Team Overview

The Retail Planning and Inventory Planning function supports the Hermès of Paris business by driving sales forecasts, open-to-buy planning, auto-replenishment oversight, inventory control, reporting, and performance analysis. This team shapes planning strategies and provides clear direction to strengthen overall commercial performance.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly organized and analytical Junior Retail Planner to support the Retail Planning and Inventory Planning team in Manhattan, NY. This position is responsible for helping manage daily planning activities, reviewing key performance indicators, and creating ad hoc templates and analysis that support department initiatives.

Planning: OTB, Budget, and Forecasting

• Assist the Retail Planning team in preparing and facilitating open-to-buy reviews under the Retail Planning Manager’s direction.
• Contribute to sales forecasts during the budget planning cycle.
• Track buy execution and prepare collection summaries during and after market activity.
• Build long-range and near-term sales forecasts at the product and reference level.
• Oversee auto-replenishment SKUs, including model stock at door level and SKU level, while helping improve inventory productivity and sales output.

Analysis and Reporting

• Review business performance to spot opportunities and risks across channels and product groups, and recommend actions to improve KPIs.
• Maintain and refresh weekly as well as monthly reporting deliverables.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Work with Merchandise Managers to gather qualitative input for forecasts and OTB planning.
• Coordinate reorder proposals and partner with the Merchandise team for strategic direction.
• Align with the Inventory Planning team on minimum and maximum levels and inventory targets.
• Work with the IT team to improve reporting efficiency and data accuracy.
• Collaborate with Finance to ensure OTB assumptions are aligned.

Additional Support

• Provide support for ad hoc requests from the Retail Planning and Inventory Planning team.
• Take on other duties assigned by management or leadership as needed.

Supervisory, Budget, and Decision Scope

This role has no supervisory responsibility, no budget responsibility, and no decision-making responsibility.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings prior merchandise planning experience, strong analytical ability, and excellent communication skills. The role also requires advanced retail math capability, strong Excel proficiency, and the ability to stay organized and flexible in a fast-moving retail environment.

Experience and Tools

Two to three years of experience in merchandise planning or a related field is preferred, with direct open-to-buy experience strongly favored. Experience using Power BI and IBM Planning Analytics Workspace is considered a plus.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. Final compensation will depend on the role, location, and the candidate’s experience.
