Junior Level Designer

Role overview

HB Studios is looking for a Junior Level Designer to help shape both realistic and imaginative environments for its sports titles, including PGA TOUR 2K on PC and consoles. The role focuses on delivering course layouts that balance strong visual authenticity with high-quality gameplay.

What you'll do

• Support the recreation of real golf courses for in-game use by working from real-world reference material.
• Create brand-new courses from the ground up, taking them through every stage of level development from early concept to final implementation.
• Add gameplay-supporting level elements to existing courses, including work that enables modes such as Challenges.
• Develop a course’s visual layout and details, and collaborate with artists to define the final look and feel.
• Share practical feedback on the studio’s player-facing Course Designer tools based on direct use.
• Work within the provided toolset and follow the studio’s file handling, implementation, and check-in workflows.
• Help confirm that tools and features behave correctly, and partner with QA to document defects and provide clear reproduction steps.
• Contribute to the studio’s evolving approach to game design and overall development philosophy.

Experience and skills

• Up to 2 years of industry experience in game design, or related experience in level design and/or golf course design.
• Understanding of golf course design from the standpoint of playability.
• Exposure to the public Course Designer tools used in the PGA TOUR 2K series is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of the Unity engine is a plus.
• Ability to quickly learn new software and technical workflows.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Comfort working collaboratively and responding constructively to feedback from peers and mentors.

Location and relocation
