About the Role
FutureGrail is a luxury watch auction and private sales business focused on rare, collectible, and significant timepieces. The catalogue team is central to how each watch is presented, with a high standard of accuracy, professionalism, and detail expected by collectors worldwide.
This opening is for a Junior Cataloguer who will support the auction and consignment functions. It is well suited to someone who is meticulous, enjoys digging into research and writing, and has a genuine enthusiasm for watches.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the creation of auction catalogue entries for watches and related collectible items.
- Research watch makers, reference numbers, production information, ownership history, and market background.
- Help draft precise item descriptions, condition remarks, and notable points for each lot.
- Work with the auction team to verify observations, specifications, and other essential details.
- Contribute to clear, accurate, and professionally written condition reports.
- Identify important details such as provenance, service history, rarity, originality, and distinguishing features.
- Liaise with photography and operations teams so catalogue content aligns with the final listing.
- Keep well-structured records of watch data, imagery, condition notes, and research materials.
- Support consistency, accuracy, and overall quality across all auction listings.
Requirements
- Strong enthusiasm for watches, horology, auctions, or luxury collectibles.
- Excellent accuracy and a sharp eye for detail.
- Solid research and writing ability.
- Well organised, dependable, and able to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable handling detailed product data, reference information, and technical language.
- Good command of written English.
- Previous experience in cataloguing, watches, luxury goods, auctions, editorial work, or research is helpful but not essential.
- Willingness to build specialist knowledge in collectible watches.
