Overview
This role is for a detail-focused Human Resources Assistant who will help keep daily HR operations running smoothly in a growing, people-centered organization in Alberta, Canada. The position supports a workplace culture built on professionalism, inclusion, and employee support. The successful candidate will work across several HR areas, including hiring, onboarding, employee support, compliance, recordkeeping, and internal communication.
The opportunity is well suited to someone who is organized, comfortable working with people, and committed to maintaining accurate and confidential HR information while assisting employees and leadership with routine HR needs.
Recruitment and Hiring Support
- Help manage hiring activities by publishing job openings, reviewing incoming applications, and arranging interview schedules.
- Keep candidates informed during the selection process and coordinate communication as needed.
- Draft offer letters, employment agreements, and onboarding paperwork.
- Update recruitment files and applicant tracking records.
Onboarding and Employee Administration
- Coordinate orientation sessions and the onboarding of new hires.
- Set up employee files and confirm that required forms and documents are completed and stored properly.
- Respond to employee questions and routine HR requests.
- Maintain organized employee databases, files, and record systems.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Keep employee information current, accurate, and aligned with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Assist in tracking HR procedures and compliance-related tasks.
- Prepare HR reports, data summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Help administer workplace policies, handbooks, and standard procedures.
Employee Engagement and Internal Support
- Support engagement initiatives, training activities, and company events.
- Assist with performance review administration and employee development efforts.
- Coordinate HR-related announcements and internal communications.
- Build positive working relationships with employees across departments.
Administrative Support
- Handle HR correspondence, calendars, and meeting arrangements.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and other HR documents.
- Organize and protect confidential personnel records.
- Provide general administrative assistance to the HR Manager and leadership team.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a high school diploma, an associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree. The role calls for strong organization, the ability to manage multiple tasks at once, excellent written and verbal communication, and solid proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. A careful approach to confidential information, strong accuracy, and a professional, approachable, and collaborative attitude are also important.
