Housekeeping Supervisor

Role overview

As a Housekeeping Supervisor in Doha, you will oversee daily housekeeping operations to keep guest rooms and public spaces clean, safe, and ready for use. The role requires close coordination with room attendants, maintenance, and other hotel departments to maintain service standards and support smooth room turnover.

Key duties

• Keep room status information current so rooms can be serviced efficiently.
• Allocate work to team members and monitor their output and performance.
• Make sure all housekeeping equipment stays clean, operational, and scheduled for preventive servicing or repairs when needed.
• Manage the distribution of rooms to room attendants for cleaning.
• Inspect and approve vacant cleaned rooms before they are released for sale.
• Carry out spot checks of service rooms at random intervals.
• Inspect corridors, back-of-house spaces, staircases, stores, public areas, pantries, the car park, and refuse areas for hygiene and cleanliness.
• Track repair items, linen usage, and rooms that are out of order.
• Verify key counts at the start of each shift and escalate missing keys immediately in line with hotel policy and procedures.
• Maintain par levels of linen and guest supplies in pantry areas according to standards.
• Ensure housekeeping attendants remain disciplined and courteous when assisting guests with requests.
• Review and countersign daily reports from assigned housekeeping attendants and ensure proper filing by the end of the shift.
• Document activities, issues, and guest complaints, and follow up through the logbook as required.
• Record and secure lost property, and arrange delivery to guests when needed in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Coordinate with maintenance on rooms that are out of service and follow through until they are returned to use.
• Support a safe and healthy workplace for employees throughout the hotel.
• Provide guidance, instruction, and supervision to employees, guests, contractors, and visitors so safe working methods are followed at all times.
• Arrive for duty on time and wear the correct uniform and name badge.
• Work closely with all departments and attend meetings or training sessions as required.
• Be adaptable to a flexible rota and shifting operational needs.
• Look for ways to improve service delivery and the product experience to better meet guest expectations.
• Follow safe work practices at all times and report occupational health and safety concerns immediately to the direct manager or HR manager.
• Consistently maintain hotel standards for room presentation.
• Work toward productivity targets and complete all assigned rooms on time.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and feedback and respond appropriately.

Requirements

• Secondary education is required.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills are necessary.
• Prior housekeeping experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel is expected.
• Previous experience supervising a housekeeping team is required.
• Good knowledge of correct manual handling techniques is needed.
• Understanding of safe chemical handling practices is important.
• A positive, energetic, and service-minded attitude is essential.
• Professional grooming and presentation are expected.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision is important.
• Flexibility to work across different shifts and rosters is required.
