Hook Up Assistant Superintendent

Role Overview

This role supports the Hook-up Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and controlling hook-up execution across offshore vessel operations. You will help ensure that subcontracted and directly hired work is aligned across disciplines, that materials, tools, and equipment are available, and that all activities follow the project’s documentation, schedule, safety, and quality requirements.

The position also includes representing the Hook-up Superintendent in daily construction meetings with the client.

Key Duties

• Act as the reporting line to the Hook-up Superintendent and support interdisciplinary coordination of greenfield and brownfield work.
• Lead and oversee foremen and supervisors across different construction and assembly disciplines to maintain quality and safety expectations.
• Coordinate shift activities and manage SIMOPS alongside other contractors and plant operations where applicable.
• Keep the Hook-up Superintendent updated on site progress, issues, and coordination matters, and work with commissioning leadership as needed.
• Plan and track vendor and specialist activities at the worksite.
• Work with subcontractor supervisors to improve productivity and execution efficiency.
• Resolve coordination, sequencing, priority, and interface issues between disciplines to keep the project on scope.
• Ensure Permit-to-Work procedures are followed for construction teams and that Tool Box Talks and JSAs are completed when required.
• Promote health, safety, and environmental awareness among construction crews and subcontractors.
• Follow and enforce Saipem QHSE standards and safety procedures so work is performed safely.
• Report incidents and near-miss events promptly.
• Oversee crane operations in coordination with the Hook-up Superintendent, including floatel, jack-up, work boat, and platform crane activities.
• Manage subcontractor manpower to support on-time delivery of the project schedule, including scaffolding, painting/coating, vendors, and similar activities.
• Support marine operations and logistics when required.
• Prepare shift-end construction reports and ensure a clear handover of responsibilities.
• Assist the Hook-up Engineer in tracking project equipment and consumables so stock levels meet forecast workload needs.
• Confirm that rigging gear is in date and properly identified/marked.
• Apply working knowledge of pressure testing, flange management, and commissioning-related mechanical completion activities.

Work location: Worldwide. Project/vessel assignment: Various offshore vessels.
