Position overview

This opportunity is for a Groundperson role within utility line clearance based in Traverse City, Michigan. The position is on-site and supports tree care operations for the Davey Tree Surgery Co.

Key duties

• Assist crew members by managing lowering ropes, limbs, and personnel coming down from above.
• Hand over tools and equipment needed by tree workers.
• Help direct road and sidewalk traffic using warning devices and other appropriate methods.
• Cut, chip, and load brush and wood, and help keep the worksite clean and orderly.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is preferred.
• A driver’s license is required.
• A commercial driver’s license is preferred and may be required depending on the duties of the assignment.
• Any required certificates and licenses must be held if applicable.
• A pesticide license is needed if mandated by state law.
• An herbicide license is considered an added advantage.
• Line clearance certification is required when working near utility transmission lines.
