About the Role
Alpaca is hiring a careful and collaborative Due Diligence Analyst for its Risk team. The role supports onboarding for new partners, including international fintechs and financial institutions, by helping confirm that due diligence, risk, compliance, and AML standards are satisfied before launch.
This is a practical, partner-facing position that blends risk oversight, third-party due diligence, compliance, operations, and project coordination. You will assess potential partners, examine supporting documents, coordinate internal checks, and help guide partners through the onboarding journey.
The right candidate will be highly organized, analytical, comfortable working with external stakeholders, and capable of managing several onboarding tracks in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and support due diligence reviews for new and existing partners, including fintechs, financial institutions, vendors, and other third-party providers.
- Stay in regular contact with prospective and onboarding partners worldwide to clarify requirements, timelines, and any missing documents.
- Assist with third-party risk activities such as KYC, KYB, enhanced due diligence, policy and procedure reviews, customer onboarding flow reviews, and risk assessments.
- Examine partner-submitted materials for completeness, consistency, and signs of possible risk.
- Monitor onboarding status, follow up on pending items, and help keep submissions on track for launch deadlines.
- Answer partner inquiries about the onboarding and due diligence process, escalating issues or requests when needed.
- Partner with internal groups such as Operations, Compliance, AML, Legal, Product, and Project Management to make sure integrations meet internal standards.
- Spot recurring issues, process gaps, or documentation problems and help improve the onboarding and diligence workflow.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of reviews, decisions, approvals, and supporting evidence.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in risk management, operational risk, third-party risk, compliance, AML, financial crime, or similar work in financial services, fintech, brokerage, or another regulated setting.
- Comfort working with international partners and reviewing diligence materials across different regulatory environments.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify inconsistencies, gaps, anomalies, and possible risk signals in documents, data, and partner responses.
- Excellent planning and prioritization abilities, with experience managing multiple onboarding processes at the same time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain requirements clearly to both external and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Risk, Compliance, AML, Operations, Legal, Product, and Project Management teams.
- Self-driven mindset with sound judgment, accountability, and the ability to work independently in a changing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, International Relations, or a related discipline.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to regulatory expectations around BSA/AML, KYC, KYB, enhanced due diligence, and third-party risk management.
- Background supporting partner, vendor, or third-party onboarding in fintech, brokerage, payments, banking, or financial services.
- Understanding of operational resilience, business continuity, cybersecurity, data protection, or outsourcing risk frameworks.
- Experience reviewing policies and procedures tied to AML, sanctions, customer onboarding, fraud, compliance, or operational controls.
- Familiarity with broker-dealer, introducing broker, or embedded finance business models.
- Experience using case management, GRC, CRM, or project tracking tools.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive pay along with stock options.
- Health coverage.
- One-time home-office setup allowance of USD 500 for new hires.
- Monthly stipend of USD 150 provided through a Brex Card.
