Role summary
This role is for a Data Engineer focused on Azure technologies at the Associate Architect / Senior level. The position requires 4 to 7 years of experience and is based across Mumbai, Bangalore, and Trivandrum. The expected notice period is 0 to 15 days.
Responsibilities
- Help plan and implement data-flow architecture, including sizing guidance and configuration support.
- Work with solution architects on modernization and transformation programs for data platforms using Azure-based cloud technologies.
- Develop production-grade code for running ML workflows in distributed environments.
- Design and build Azure data pipelines and streaming solutions.
- Create hybrid data solutions that combine on-premises systems with cloud services.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues in distributed systems and deliver fixes that matter at scale.
- Build utilities to ingest and process terabyte-scale data every day.
- Partner with product owners, business analysts, architects, platform engineers, and cloud vendors to align on delivery.
- Prepare detailed design documents, technical specifications, and test plans as needed.
- Own development work from technical design through production deployment and post-release support.
- Support unit testing, SIT, and UAT activities.
- Coordinate with business and support teams during testing and migration efforts.
Technical requirements
- Strong practical experience with Spark and PySpark.
- Very good SQL skills, including query tuning and performance optimization.
- Hands-on development experience in Python, with Java or Scala also acceptable.
- Prior exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, with Azure preferred.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory is an advantage.
- Databricks experience is desirable.
- Working knowledge of data warehouses such as Snowflake or Synapse.
- Ability to design dimensional models for data warehouses and data marts.
- Familiarity with version control and build automation tools such as Azure DevOps and/or MLOps practices.
- Understanding of operating system internals, file systems, storage technologies, and storage protocols.
