Custodian (457B)

Position Overview

The Cobb County School District is hiring a Custodian for its Operational Support division within Maintenance Services. This role is classified as hourly, non-exempt, and is assigned to an annual operational schedule. The custodian reports to the Principal and is responsible for maintaining cleanliness across assigned school facilities.

Core Purpose

The main objective of this position is to carry out a cleaning schedule for designated building areas and support the upkeep of the school environment.

Essential Duties

• Arrive on time and maintain dependable daily attendance.
• Clean assigned sections of the building according to directions from the Principal or Head Custodian.
• Maintain school grounds as instructed.
• Replace ceiling light bulbs in locations up to 10 feet high.
• Clean the full building, including dining areas, regardless of ceiling height.
• Complete additional tasks assigned by the proper school representative.

Requirements

No formal education, certification, license, or prior experience is required for this role. The job does involve routine physical activity, medium to heavy physical effort, and occasional lifting of items weighing up to 75 pounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected. The Board of Education and the Superintendent may approve alternatives to certain stated requirements.

Work Schedule

Standard hours for this position are 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The pay schedule is bi-weekly.
