Role Summary

The Crossing Guard works under the Supervisor, School Crossing Guards and is employed during the school year, from September through June. The role involves helping elementary students cross roadways safely near public and/or Catholic schools in Whitby, while also offering courteous service to the public and staff.

  • Support elementary students as they cross roads and intersections in a safe, professional manner.

  • Ability to work Monday to Friday across 2 to 8 shifts per day.
  • Availability during the operating window of 7:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.
  • Willingness to work an average of 2.5 hours per day.
  • Ability to adjust to variable shift lengths and start/end times depending on the school and crossing location.

Schedule and Work Conditions

The schedule runs Monday to Friday. Daily hours may vary based on the assigned crossing and school bell times. Shifts can range from two to eight per day, with work generally taking place between 7:30 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. The average daily time commitment is about 2.5 hours.
