Role overview

The work is based at Fortescue’s Port Hedland site, with roster options of 8 days on / 6 days off or 7 nights on / 7 nights off. The role can be FIFO from Perth or residential for candidates based in Port Hedland.

The team is looking for people at different stages of their career, from those entering the trade to highly experienced belt technicians. The position is focused on keeping conveyor systems operating safely, reliably and efficiently in a high-performing maintenance environment.

Fortescue also recognises and respects the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out splicing, repairs and maintenance on steel cord and fabric conveyor belts.
  • Perform pulley lagging using cold vulcanised techniques in accordance with company standards.
  • Apply rubber lining to pipes, spools, chutes, launders and related equipment.

Experience and qualifications

A sound understanding of conveyor systems, maintenance routines and production needs is important, along with familiarity using maintenance systems such as SAP or PDS. The role suits someone with strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving ability and a strong safety mindset.

Work environment

This role is tied to large-scale operations where maintenance reliability, quality workmanship and continuous improvement are key priorities. The team values a proactive approach and a strong commitment to zero-harm outcomes.
