About the Role
Qantas, established in the Queensland outback in 1920, has developed into Australia’s largest airline group, serving regional, domestic, and international markets. The Group also includes subsidiary businesses that help support its wider operations across passenger and freight transport through the Qantas and Jetstar brands.
As the Commercial Manager - Airports, you will shape and deliver commercial outcomes with Australian airports for the Qantas Group. This role is permanent and full time, based either at Mascot Head Office or Jetstar’s Melbourne City Office.
What You Will Do
- Work with internal stakeholders across the Qantas Group to understand business priorities and long-term needs for airports.
- Develop airport-specific commercial approaches that align with the overall Commercial Airports strategy and operational requirements.
- Manage commercial activity from the initial concept stage through negotiation and final contract completion.
- Create airport strategies that guide how the Group approaches negotiations to support business objectives and deliver value in both the short and long term.
- Ensure negotiations and strategy execution stay aligned with team targets and the wider airport strategy.
- Act as the main relationship contact for regional and medium-sized airports, while managing significant relationships at major airports.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver commercially sound outcomes.
What You Will Bring
- At least 5 years of experience in stakeholder management and/or procurement and negotiation.
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Business Management, or a closely related field.
- Strong communication, persuasion, and negotiation capability.
- The ability to build effective relationships and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience leading complex negotiations, especially across regional ports and in deals involving Tier 1 and Tier 2 ports.
- Leadership experience with cross-functional projects or teams in time-sensitive environments.
- Capability in managing change and handling project management responsibilities.
- Ability to interpret and deliver commercial strategy, analyse market and business data, and present recommendations clearly.
- Sound commercial judgement and a strong understanding of business drivers.
- A flexible, creative mindset with a willingness to adopt new processes and challenge existing ways of working.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft tools.
